For Digital Nomads

You live between countries. Can you prove it?

Hacienda doesn't ask how you feel about it. If they decide you were a tax resident, the burden of proof is on you. Not them. And Google Maps won't save you.

The Problem

The nomad tax trap

  1. 183 days

    Days that change everything

Cross 183 days in Spain and Hacienda claims your worldwide income. One day over in Portugal triggers full tax residency under IFICI. Every country draws its own line, and none of them warn you before you cross it.

  2. 90/180

    The Schengen countdown

Non-EU nomads get 90 days in any 180-day window. Overstay by one day and you face entry bans, deportation proceedings, and a flag that follows you across all 29 member states. The EU Entry-Exit System now enforces this at every border with biometrics.

  3. Avoidable cost

exposure on the line if you guess wrong

"I think I left in March" is not a defense. The burden of proof falls on you, not the tax authority. And they will not ask before they decide.

Your current proof won't hold up

These are the four things nomads rely on when Hacienda asks where they lived.

Google Maps Timeline, boarding passes, credit card statements, spreadsheets — none of them work. They prove something happened somewhere. Not that you were there. Real proof has to answer four things at once, and a check-in seals all four:

  1. Where

    The GPS-sealed country

Editable by any user at any time. Tax authorities know this. A location history you can delete or modify is not evidence, it's a note. The GPS-sealed country you spent each day in is what counts — not a pin you could fake.

  2. When

An external timestamp your device can't touch

A boarding pass proves a ticket was issued. A transaction in Lisbon proves a card was used. An independent NTP timestamp fixes each day in time, from a source no device can spoof, and cannot be backdated.

  3. Who

Your biometric identity, not just your phone

A spreadsheet is your word against theirs. No external timestamp, no biometric link, no tamper-proof chain. You wrote it. You could have written anything. Your biometric identity, confirmed with liveness detection, ties the record to you specifically.

  4. Proof

An eIDAS 2 report a tax authority can verify alone

An eIDAS 2 report your tax authority can verify on its own, without taking your word for anything. Present it to your advisor, immigration officer, or directly to the auditing authority as supporting evidence.

By destination

Digital nomad visas: the stay you have to prove

Each of these visas gives you the right to live and work remotely. Every single one requires proving minimum days in-country for renewal. Without certified records, you're relying on passport stamps and hope.

The Solution

How ResidenceSafe works for nomads

Three steps. Under 30 seconds. What you get is a certified record linking your verified identity to a specific GPS coordinate and an external NTP timestamp, sealed on blockchain before you put the phone down.

  1. 01

One selfie proves it was you

Biometric liveness detection confirms your verified legal identity in real time, not just whoever holds the phone. GPS captured simultaneously. Under 30 seconds.

  2. 02

    Every country, one timeline

Your check-ins build a certified presence record across every country, with automatic detection and real-time 183-day tracking per jurisdiction.

  3. 03

    Export when you need it

eIDAS 2-compliant PDF and CSV reports in 32 languages. Hand them to a tax authority, immigration officer, or your advisor. The blockchain signature is verifiable independently.

Built for nomads

Built for people who don't stay in one place

Day-counting apps track numbers. This builds evidence. The difference matters when someone with authority asks to see it.

  1. Multi-country

    Multi-country tracking

Spain yesterday, Portugal today. One app builds your certified timeline across every country, with automatic detection so you never miscalculate your days.

  2. Alerts

    183-day alerts

ResidenceSafe tracks your count per jurisdiction and alerts you before you cross a threshold. You decide whether to stay or move. It just makes sure you know.

  3. Privacy

    Zero background tracking

One GPS point per check-in, captured only when you decide. No movement history, no continuous monitoring. An app that tracks continuously can log up to 86,400 data points a day. We capture one.

  4. Photos

    Geolocated photos

Optional photo evidence sealed to your GPS coordinates and verified timestamp. Visual proof that you were physically there, not just online from there.

  5. Backup

    Encrypted cloud backup

Your records survive a lost phone, a factory reset, or a device switch. Every check-in is encrypted and backed up automatically. No gaps, no excuses.

  6. Languages

    Reports in 32 languages

Export in the language of the authority you're talking to. The report says the same thing in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, or German.

The Schengen problem most nomads don't see coming.

Non-EU nomads face the 90/180 rolling rule: a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day window inside the Schengen Area. The EU Entry-Exit System (EES) now enforces this at borders with biometrics. But EES only sees Schengen entry/exit. You can move between France, Spain, and Portugal without any border stamp.

If Spain says you owe taxes and your only evidence is a Schengen entry stamp, you have no way to prove you spent most of your time in Portugal instead. Two countries both claim you as a tax resident. Without per-country daily proof, you have no leverage in DTA tie-breaker disputes.

No background tracking. No movement history between check-ins. You decide when to record. Your privacy is yours.

FAQ

Questions nomads ask

Do I need to check in every single day?

No. ResidenceSafe does not require daily check-ins. You decide when to create a certified record. For tax residency purposes, strategic check-ins at the beginning, middle, and end of your stay in a country are often enough to establish a pattern of presence. The more check-ins you create, the stronger your documentation.

What if I'm in a country with no mobile signal?

ResidenceSafe requires GPS and a brief data connection to seal your check-in on the blockchain. If you're in an area with no signal, you can check in as soon as you reach a connection point. The timestamp will reflect the moment of check-in, not when you arrived in the area.

Can I use ResidenceSafe for my digital nomad visa renewal?

ResidenceSafe generates certified supporting documentation that proves how many days you have spent in a country. Many digital nomad visas require proof of minimum stay for renewal. While ResidenceSafe records are not a substitute for official government documents, they provide strong certified evidence to support your application.

How is this different from a day-counting app?

Day-counting apps let you type in whatever you want. There's no verification that you were there, no timestamp from an external source, no biometric link to your identity. ResidenceSafe records are sealed with GPS, an independent NTP timestamp, and your biometric, then notarized on blockchain. You can't backfill them. That's the point.

Is my location data tracked between check-ins?

No. ResidenceSafe captures exactly one GPS coordinate per check-in. Between check-ins, the app collects zero location data. No background tracking, no movement history, no breadcrumb trail. Your privacy is absolute between records.

What happens if I forget to check in one day?

Nothing bad happens. ResidenceSafe does not require consecutive daily check-ins. You cannot backdate a record (that would compromise its integrity), but missing a day does not invalidate your other check-ins. Each record stands on its own as certified proof of presence at that moment.

Stop guessing. ResidenceSafe starts proving.

A tax authority doesn't care where you think you were. It cares about certified evidence. Build it now, before they ask.
