eIDAS 2 · Certified evidence

The tax authority will decide where you've been. Unless you can prove otherwise.

ResidenceSafe turns a daily selfie into legal proof of where you were, each day. Thirty seconds a day. Certified evidence that holds up in any tax audit.

Why your current proof won't hold up

When a tax authority asks you to prove how many days you've spent in a country, this is what they reject:

  • Google Maps Timeline

Anyone can edit their location history. Tax authorities know this. Zero legal value.

  • Boarding passes

A ticket proves you flew. Not where you slept the other 182 days.

  • Credit card statements

A payment proves someone paid. Not that it was you, not that you were there.

  • Screenshots & selfies

A photo with your coffee in Lisbon is a memory, not evidence in court.

  • Utility bills

They prove you have an address. Not that you were there 183 days.

  • WhatsApp location

Anyone can send a pin from anywhere. No identity, no timestamp you can't fake.

None of this is proof. ResidenceSafe is.

What real proof needs

Four things your proof has to answer

A tax authority does not just ask "were you here?". It asks where, on which day, who exactly, and whether the record can be trusted. Miss one and the proof falls apart. ResidenceSafe certifies all four at once.

  1. Where

The exact place, in the right country

Certified GPS coordinates sealed at check-in, so each day counts toward the country you were actually in. Not an address you claim, the place you stood.

  2. When

    The exact day

An external timestamp notarized on blockchain. The date cannot be moved later, and anyone can verify it independently.

  3. Who

    That it was you

Biometric liveness verification. Not your phone left at home, not someone checking in for you. You, in person.

  4. Proof

    That it holds up

An eIDAS 2 report, PAdES LTA signed. A tax authority or court can verify it on its own, without taking your word for anything.

All four are captured in the same moment. Faking one layer is hard. Faking identity, GPS, timestamp, and blockchain seal at once, without our infrastructure noticing, is not a realistic attack. And we do it without tracking you: one check-in a day, a few seconds, then your phone is yours again.

How it works

Thirty seconds. One selfie. A record no one can challenge.

ResidenceSafe turns a daily selfie into certified evidence of your physical presence.

  1. 01

    Your face confirms it's you

Open the app, take a selfie. Biometric liveness detection verifies your identity against your official document. No one else can check in as you, from anywhere.

  2. 02

Your location is locked at that moment

The exact place and time are captured and certified. The timestamp comes from external servers, not your device clock. The GPS cross-checks four independent signals. Neither can be edited after the fact.

Sealed on blockchain before you close the app

Your record is notarized on a public blockchain the moment it's created. We write to a ledger we don't control, so nobody edits it after the fact. Including us.

Proof, without surveillance.

You shouldn't have to be tracked all day just to prove you were in a country on a given day. ResidenceSafe captures one certified moment a day, and then stops.

Between check-ins, your phone is yours. No background location. No movement history. No record of where you go, who you see, or when you sleep. You get the proof. We get nothing else.

That's not a limitation. It's the point.

What people ask before they trust us with this.

Does a tax authority actually accept this as evidence?

ResidenceSafe generates certified supporting documentation under eIDAS 2, the EU's highest standard for electronic identification. The PDF report is digitally signed with PAdES LTA, which means any court, tax authority, or legal professional can verify its authenticity independently. It functions as admissible documentary evidence. It does not replace a tax advisor or constitute legal advice for your specific situation.

What if I forget to check in one day?

That day won't appear in your certified record. There's no retroactive check-in, and no way to add a past day after the fact. That's precisely what makes the records credible: what's there is there, and what isn't there wasn't certified. The record is honest by design. Build the habit before you need the evidence.

My tax advisor manages all of this. Why do I need this?

Your tax advisor builds the case. ResidenceSafe gives them the raw material. Today, most clients bring a spreadsheet reconstructed from memory and a folder of boarding passes. That's not evidence, it's a story. Certified daily records generated before the investigation, not in response to it, are a different class of proof entirely.

I've never been audited. Why would I start now?

Most people who get audited had never been audited before. Cross-border tax residency investigations have increased significantly across the EU as information-sharing agreements between tax authorities have expanded. The question isn't whether you'll be audited. It's whether you'll have anything to show if you are.
